Rebecca “Becky” Henderson

Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Henderson was born on June 29, 1982, in Panama City, Florida, to Wayne and Sherry Henderson, both proud veterans of the U.S. Coast Guard. Raised with a deep sense of service and resilience, Becky embodied these values throughout her life. She became a cherished member of the Gulfport, Mississippi community, where she resided from 2016 until her passing in early 2025.

Becky earned three degrees—in Health and Human Services, Medical Billing and Coding, and Health Care Administration. Her academic achievements were matched by her unwavering commitment to advocating for patient rights and access to medical cannabis in Mississippi. After a spinal cord injury at age 21 left her paralyzed from the waist down, Becky became a vocal proponent for the needs of patients with mobility challenges. At a Mississippi Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee meeting in December 2023, she proposed critical changes to the state’s program, including the implementation of delivery services, drive-through dispensaries, and telehealth options for medical cannabis patients. Her passionate advocacy contributed to several recommendations adopted by the committee to improve patient access.

As a single mother, Becky devoted her life to her son, Joseph Twain Trough III, providing him with unwavering love and care. Despite facing her own physical challenges, she demonstrated extraordinary strength and perseverance. Her personal experiences fueled her mission to support others facing adversity.

Becky co-founded the Devack Henderson Foundation to extend her mission of service. The foundation focuses on assisting veterans, first responders, terminally ill individuals, and low-income families—communities close to her heart. Her vision and compassion continue to guide the foundation’s work, ensuring her legacy endures.

She was a devoted daughter, loving sister to Richard Henderson, and a relentless advocate for change. Becky’s life serves as a testament to the impact one individual can have through courage, empathy, and unwavering dedication.

To each and every one Becky touched in her life, she will be missed greatly, and our foundation is a testament to her extensive goal of providing service to others.
